What we thought they were!

Mom thought she was expecting 2 girls
&
Dad thought we were expecting 1 girl and 1 boy

Turns out we were both wrong!

LOL

22 week ultrasound

Mommy was very happy to see that her boys were very close to each other, protecting one another (head to head)!

19 weeks ultasound

After 3 long weeks of waiting we finally found out that we were expecting 2 boys! Awwwwwww...!!!!!!!

Name choosing

Choosing our babies names was one of the hardest things we had to decide on. After looking through about 5 different baby name books we still hadn't decided. We knew for sure that if we had two girls they would be Luana and Isabelle. We also thought of Rafaelly, Nataly and Juliana. These were the top choices. For boys we came up with Adam, Nathan or Nathaniel, Nicholas, Isaac, Jordan, Aldar (long story), Giovanni, Andrew, Matthew, Adriano and many others. We both liked the name Seven also. Although it seems unusual we loved it for some reason. The number 7 is perfect. We also considered naming one of them Sydnei ( in memory of their grandpa), Daniel (in memory of my grandfather) or Rafael Jr.

Turns out we changed our mind towards the end.

16 weeks Ultrasound

Grandma De and tia Ni were both in town to support the twins for their 16 weeks ultrasound!
This is when we found out we were expecting one boy, his twin was too shy to reveal his sex to us! We had half of our curiosity killed..now we had to wait another 3 weeks until the next visit.

Twins sono at 10 weeks

Growing and Growing :)

Benefits of Flaxseed

"Flaxseed is very high in omega-3 essential fatty acids. It's the omega 3s -- "good" fats -- that researchers are looking at in terms of their possible effects on lowering cholesterol, stabilizing blood sugar, lowering the risk of breast, prostate, and colon cancers, and reducing the inflammation of arthritis, as well as the inflammation that accompanies certain illnesses such as Parkinson's disease and asthma."

Flaxseed is also rich in fiber and lignans!

"In a small Canadian study of 39 women, for example, researchers from the University of Toronto found that flaxseed may boost conventional treatment for breast cancer. In the study, reported in the American Institute for Cancer Research Newsletter in 1998, postmenopausal women with breast cancer ate either a plain muffin or a muffin containing 25 grams of flaxseed oil every day for approximately five-and-a-half weeks. Of the 29 out of the 39 women who ate both muffins, researchers found reductions in the growth of their tumors."

DUN DUN DUN DANNN!

And the mood swings began!

And the flax seed oil began!

And I hated it!

"It's common to have mood swings during pregnancy, because of hormonal changes that affect your levels of neurotransmitters (chemical messengers in the brain) and the broad range of feelings you may have about becoming a parent. Everyone responds differently to these changes. Some moms-to-be experience heightened emotions, both good and bad; others feel more depressed or anxious. Most find that moodiness flares up at around 6 to 10 weeks, eases up in the second trimester, and then reappears as their pregnancy winds to a close."

We're having WHAT?

January of 2009

On the first week of January 09 we discovered we were pregnant! It started off with a 3 day process of taking (first response) home pregnancy tests. I used all 3 of them which came in the box. Shortly after on 1/7/09 I decided to go have a urine test at Planned Parenthood in Plano where I convinced myself I was not daydreaming when the nurse took me into a little room to tell me the news. I cannot express how it felt to hear that I was going to be a mom. It felt unreal, like something had hit me and I just couldn't move or breathe. It was a mixture of emotions that I still can't and will never be able to describe! I called "daddy" (my husband) right away and could feel the tension in his voice. This was a complete surprise for both of us. Right then I felt an instant connection to my child that was unlike anything I had ever felt before. I began to worry about many things and decided to begin prenatal care ASAP! One of my good friends recommended Dr.John A. Maxey in Irving, I talked to my husband and we went the following week.

1/14/09 (First Sonogram):

To our surprise we were very satisfied with the doctor and were ready to hear all about what was going on! I had my weight checked which was at 115 lb. and also blood and other tests, we also had sonogram. This was the most exciting part! The doctor told us that I was 6 weeks pregnant. He also told us some other very exciting news...we were having TWINS! I was really nervous to hear this so I began laughing..and my husband turned pale! Then he even said "I knew this could happen" since it runs in his family. We even got our first picture of them...!!

This is how it all started...!!! And this road of surprises was just at its beginning.
